Cordless Recharging Promised
Two companies at the Consumer Electronics Show in the US are showing technologies that allow you to charge devices like phones, torches, iPods and the like just by placing them on a special surface.
Both Powermat and Fulton Innovation are demonstrating their magnetic induction technologies. Powermat’s solution invovles custom cases you put on your device before placing it on the charging surface. The device figures out what level of charge is required and delivers it to the device.
These technologies won’t take off until device makers build the receivers into their devices, but it’s good to see some innovation here being shown.
