Microsoft looking to buy AOL’s Online assets

Apparently Microsoft is pretty keen to get it hands on online properties, and since the whole Yahoo thing has crashed and burned (several times now) word is they are looking to grab AOL, which is currently part of the Time Warner conglomerate.

Personally, I don’t see why they don’t go on a building spree; Microsoft has a huge talent pool, and the Windows Live guys have proven that there is the online talent available, if the powers that be would just let them get on with it.

For some reason Microsoft haven’t been able to get any traction with their search offering; I don’t think buying AOL will do anything to help that situation, they’d be much better off doing something with their existing business to make it appealing. But then, what do I know eh?
