Italian courts rename a child against parents wishes

12.20.07 Posted in News by

Five months after the child was born, named and baptised as “Friday”, an Italian court has ruled it illegal to name your child “Friday” and has legally renamed the boy “Gregory”. I guess Italians just can’t take a trick when it comes to naming their kids; I have an Italian friend who’s sons legal name is not the name he intended due to some clerical error.

I also heard a story once about naming your kids here in Australia; Apparently you can legally name your kid whatever you want, to the point they can have as many names as you like. The story went that a guy turned up to register his kids birth / name, and had an excercise book full of names, he wanted his kid to have a VERY long name.
