New virus on the loose?
I spent my weekend battling some sort of new virus/trojan that had infected a couple of clients last week. Symptoms include the computer resetting spontaneously, and failing to bring up your task bar and desktop icons when you log in. You may also get a system error related to winlogin.exe
From what I have found, nothing detects whatever it is, and once it infects the computer, its impossible to fix it; I’ve had to reinstall every infected machine.

Update: I’ve managed to identify and find a cleaning solution for this nasty piece of work. I’m still not sure why most mainstream anti virus solutions don’t detect it, and I am in the process of reporting it to them so that their AV solutions can be updated.
Its fairly painful to remove, as it hides itself in the Windows system restore files and appears to reinfect the machine from there even after you have removed all the infected files. That being said, I have cleaned one PC tonight and am starting work on a second. Woo Hoo!
