Nintendo Wii outselling the Xbox 360
The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that sales of the new Nintendo Wii console in its first four days of sale reached 32,901 units, while the Microsoft XBox 360 managed only 30,421 in its first four days.
There is a massive buzz about this new console, and I am tipping that it will be the biggest thing in game consoles for at least the next little while, regardless of what Microsoft and Sony do with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 respectively.
Hard core gamers are still going to want a 360 or a PS3, but families are going to buy the Wii in droves, because its a much more family oriented platform. Anyone who has paid the slightest attention to marketing and demographics knows that families outnumber “hard core gamers” by an order of magnitude.
Good on you Nintendo for continuing to innovate.
