New Microsoft Anti Piracy Measure
Users of counterfeit Windows will soon be getting a notification on their computer telling them so; Microsoft are rolling out an update to Windows that lets users of illegal copies know about it, and offers a simple way to buy a licence .
I recently read a short piece by a local would be journalist who suggested this was going too far, and that Microsoft should make it harder to pirate windows instead of doing this.
Sadly, this guy misses the point; The majority of illegal copies of windows I see are there because dodgy retailers put them there, and the users of those PC’s have no idea they are using illegal software.
This initiative is actually a good thing, as it will educate a lot of people about what is going on, and help reputable retailers (like us!) offer the quality service people need.
