ask.com – Its a great new search engine
I was interested to read the review of the new ask.com search enging on the wall street journal this morning.
I’ve had a look myself, and I have to say, I’m impressed with what they are doing over there. Next time you are searching for something online, try ask.com

The “new” ask.com used to be the old “Ask Jeeves” search engine who’s history is documented at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ask_jeeves#.22Ask_Jeeves.22_history. The Ask Jeeves search engine was one of the first search engines able to accept queries in “natural language” format. It was a favorite of schools and teachers, its natural language features letting kids easily and naturally find information on the ever growing internet.

ask.com was born on 27th February 2006. You are thinking of its predecessor, askjeeves.com. Two very different engines.

Ask was ask jeeves. So when you type in ask.com it went to ask jeeves.
