Concerns over iPod volume
John Patterson of Louisana has launched legal action against Apple, claiming their iPod allows a volume high enough to cause permanent hearing loss. Apple have released an update to allow parents to lock the volume so their kids can’t do themselves an injury.
Personally, I think my old favourite, personal responsibility, comes into play here. If you are cranking your iPod (or any other personal music player) to ear bleeding volumes, what else but hearing loss do you expect?
Its time, if we are going to allow all manner of legislation and lawsuits, to think about enacting a law that prohibits legal action where the injury could have been avoided by the ‘victim’.
