Anti Spam Law
A Government body many of us have never heard of, the ACMA, have put into effect an industry code of practice relating to SPAM. Apparently it requires ISP’s to offer anti spam solutions to their customers.
Personally, I don’t see why we need more regulation and more legislation. Spam filtering costs money. If an ISP doesn’t want to offer that service, and can offer a cheaper product to customers who don’t want it, why shoudn’t they be allowed to?
I can’t see why we, the consumers, can’t make a choice; If spam is a problem for any of us, we can choose spam filtering software, we can choose an ISP that offers server side filtering if we want; In short, we have the choice.
At the end of the day, we shouldn’t force a “one size fits all” solution to any problem on any industry.
